I saw my therapist today, which is a crucial part of my treatment plan. Being able to talk to someone about what's going on can provide perspective and advice on how I can best manage my symptoms and concerns.
No one should be afraid to go to a therapist. When you are having physical symptoms like a sore throat or a hurt shoulder, you see a doctor, so it's no different if you are having mental symptoms. There is no shame in getting help if you need it.
If you are looking for a therapist, there are a few ways to find one. You can ask your general doctor for a referral if they happen to know anyone. You can ask a friend that goes to therapy (me!) if they have recommendations. I've also had good luck with Psychology Today's Find a Therapist search.
