Build a Quilt Block #4

PXL_20210227_221736225.jpg

Angela Walters from Quilting is my Therapy is running a cool block of the month club called Build a Quilt. I went with the colorway “Inked” and this is block #4. The way she did this club is really cool. The different “fabrics” are printed onto one strip of fabric that is only the fabric you need for that month. My guess is that it is through Spoonflower or something similar. You then cut up the strip into the different component fabrics, cut the pieces, then sew the block together as normal. I’ll try to get a picture of what the fabric looks like after it arrives through the mail and before I cut it up.

I got more of the cream yarn in, so I was able to finish up the hot dog and falafel pita! These guys are just too cute!

I bought like 6 skeins of this multicolored Lion Brand Basic Stich yarn in the color Critter Craze on a whim, and I am in love with it. It pairs so well with black to make a stained glass look. From left to right (or top to bottom), patterns are Black Light, Aurora Polaris, and Lovely Sentiment.

The Great Biscuit Bake Off Round 3

In the latest round, we were narrowing down our selection, plus I did some tests with a couple different vegan butters. I tried Country Crock’s plant butter sticks in Avocado Oil and Olive Oil. The avocado oil performed just as well as dairy butter, while the olive oil browned the biscuit too easily and had too much of a strong olive oil flavor.

We’ve compiled our results and I’m working on the final recipe, which will be coming out soon!

St. Louis Blues’ Dakota Joshua’s 1st NHL Goal

Watch "In his NHL debut, Joshua gets his 1st NHl goal from a deflection off his body" on Streamable.

30 minutes before this game, I had never heard of Dakota Joshua.

David Perron (allegedly!) hid his helmet pre-warmups, so he skated his debut solo lap with no hat (side note: good on the Ducks for doing a debut lap for a road team guy). His commemorative first goal puck says “Hi Mom!” The guys joked that maybe he could just shoot the next one in. They are already calling him “Dax".

And now I love him and hope he stays here awhile.

Blues fans are good at knowing when a new player just feels right on the team. He’ll probably get bumped down to the AHL once more of our main guys get healthy (we literally have hit the max # of guys you can have on LTIR), but until then, keep your eyes on #54.
