One of the more effective types of therapy is called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT. CBT rests on the idea that thoughts and perceptions influence behavior. Feeling distressed, in some cases, may distort one’s perception of reality. CBT aims to identify harmful thoughts, assess whether they are an accurate depiction of reality, and if they are not, employ strategies to challenge and overcome them.

Typical steps include:
  • Identifying troubling situations or conditions in your life
  • Become aware of your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs about these problems
  • Identify negative or inaccurate thinking
  • Reshape negative or inaccurate thinking

CBT can help you see a situation from a different perspective, avoid generalizations and all-or-nothing thinking, challenge underlying assumptions that may be wrong, and so much more.  Learn more about CBT in the links below!
